The Museum of Tahiti and the Islands, presents its new exhibition -TIKI- which will take place from September 15, 2016 to March 19, 2017.
The exhibition aims to highlight an emblematic object of the Marquesas Islands: the tiki, declined around three axes – oral tradition, motif, anthropomorphic statue.
Ethnology, linguistics, sociology, archeology are in turn called to try to give meaning to tiki. Thus, a hundred objects from the collections of the Museum of Tahiti and the Islands, private collections and loans of communities of the Marquesas Islands will be exposed in a context that will offer a different reading.
